A video has gone viral on social media in which Nepali workers are being thrashed mercilessly by Indian forest officials. According to reports in Indian media, the official from the Department of Forest thrashed the workers for allegedly mining from a river in Shimla, illegally. The officials can be seen hitting the workers with a stick and slapping.

After the video took the social media by storm, people have come down heavily on the officials. Reports by Indian media suggest that it was not such first incident. It has been reported that the forest official has mishandled a Nepali woman too.

The workers unions have criticized the incident and have termed it a shameful act. They have warned of stern protest if action is not taken against those allegedly thrashing the Nepali workers.
