Govt introduces box office system in film sector
Kathmandu, The government has introduced box office system from today.
During a programme organized at Film Development Board here Tuesday, Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Gokul Prasad Baskota, launched the system much sought in the film sector in Nepal.
On the occasion, Minister Baskota informed that the box office system was launched to make the investment in film secure and promote transparency. “With the box office in place, the film sector would be promoted,” he said, adding that it would help generate revenue to the State as well.
Similarly, he said clean feed would also be implemented and efforts were underway to provide salary to working journalists through banks.
Journalists’ Welfare Fund would be reached to Rs 30 million from present Rs 10 million.
According to him, all parts of the Nepal were suitable for film shooting. He urged the film makers to give a positive message that all places are beautiful for filming in Nepal. Films could be made on icons of people’s movement and national pride rather than landlords and aristocrats.
The box office made effective in the film halls in the Kathmandu Valley from today would however be launched in film halls outside the Valley from coming February.
